KT HYDRAULICS RULES THE WAVES WITH MOD CONTRACT
KT Hydraulics secured a contract to install, test and commission the hydraulic tubing for the cargo and ballast hydraulic control system on board one of the Navy's newest vessels.
The 12,000 tonne Wave Ruler is one of the latest vessels to be commissioned by the MOD for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary and when fully fitted out her primary role will be the replenishment at sea of fuel and fresh water for NATO and Royal Navy ships.
Work on installing the hydraulic system, included the installation of some 290 control valves and over 40,000 metres of hydraulic tubing. The full contract includes installation, flushing and pressure testing as well as the final commissioning of the complete cargo and ballast control system.
Commenting on the contract KT Hydraulics operations director Richard Ellis said, "we are very pleased to have won this particular contract. Competition is always fierce in the marine market, especially for MOD work and this just shows that KT has an excellent reputation within the marine industry while being very competitive and is up there with the very best.
