KTH SECURES REFINERY CONTRACT

KT Hydraulics secured a long-term contract to supply a number of sealing charging systems that will be used in offshore and oil refinery applications.

The contract includes an initial order for two charging systems to BP's refinery in Hull and two for a refinery in China. The fixed units will be permanently connected to high-pressure rotating mechanical shaft seals where they will be responsible for constantly energising the seal to prevent fluid from leaking down the shaft.

In securing the contract, KTH satisfied stringent criteria for quality of manufacture and demonstrated an ability to design to exact specification with a number of base designs and options packages.

The units have been designed to cope with certain special operating conditions and are currently being manufactured with weatherproof and explosion proof motors, charging tanks and ancillary valves, gauges and equipment.
